Woman went to police about Merah’s radicalism two years ago
A French newspaper reported Wednesday evening that a woman twice complained to police about the suspect in the shooting attack on a Jewish school in Toulouse two years ago, after he tried to indoctrinate her son.
The angry mother of a teenage boy told the Telegramme newspaper that Mohammed Merah was trying to “recruit” her son to al-Qaeda with songs and videos.
“I am shocked. All these people had to die before they finally arrest Mohammed Merah. What an enormous waste,” said the woman, who asked to remain anonymous but asserted she’s willing to talk to the police. “The police knew this individual was dangerous and radicalized. I complained to the police twice about Mohammed Merah and tried to follow up several times.”
The woman said that Merah made her 15-year-old son listen to songs, which he said were from the Koran, but these were actually calls to go to war.
Merah took her son to his home, where several sabers hung on the wall, to further indoctrinate him. He made him watch al-Qaeda videos of women being shot in the head and men being strangled to death, the mother recalled.
After he found out that she had complained to the police about him, he confronted and assaulted her.

But according to an acquaintance, Mehdi Nedder, nothing about Merah’s social life in Toulouse before the French attacks made him stand out as a radical bent on sowing terror — or even that he had radical leanings.

As a teenager, Merah got caught up in petty crime, some of it involving violence, said his lawyer, Christian Etelin. But Etelin told BFM TV the recent wave of deadly shooting attacks didn’t fit the profile of the suspect he first represented in 2004.
“He was a polite and courteous boy” who used to work in a body shop, Etelin said.
However, Etelin also said he was aware that Merah had been monitored by authorities after he made a visit to Afghanistan two years ago.
FP: We get the usual whitewashing of how normal he was from family and friends. We keep seeing this movie. Islamists are good at taquiyah and gullible Westerners keep falling for it. Here’s more:
Mohammed Merah, 23, was a heavy partier and not particularly pious • He was arrested 18 times as a youth, and visited Pakistan and Afghanistan to train with Islamic extremists • He enjoyed watching videos of beheadings, and wanted to kill again.
The US army in Afghanistan let him go, the Taliban released him and the French had him, supposedly, monitored and now it turns there were specific complaints about him. That’s why I don’t buy all the pious declarations and crocodile tears. All I can say is read the next item.

Between all the non-stop coverage, the expressions of grief, the political pandering, no one is stating the obvious. France has been occupied all over again. Once again the occupation has been carried out with the consent of the authorities who have decided that cowardice is the only way. Vichy France has become Vichy Europe, Vichy America, Vichy Australia, where the blatant appeasement is disguised as honor, treason is portrayed as responsible leadership and collaboration in the mass murder of your own people is never acknowledged as such.
It's not Neo-Nazis that are the threat to Jews today. It's the new Nazis and the old Nazis who were rounding up Jews into ghettos and murdering their children long before a thousand years before Hitler. The Neos are pathetically longing for the return of a genocidal state that isn't coming back, while the Muslims are actually working to bring back their genocidal state. They are doing it in Egypt, in Libya, in Pakistan and in England, France and Spain.
Muslims have hated Jews before the telephone, the telegraph, the steam engine, gunpowder, movable type and paper currency. And now surrounded by smartphones, credit cards and jet planes, they still hate them. That simple undeniable fact is denied by government, in every university and in every center of culture. And every one of those deniers has blood on his hands.

The names of Chamberlain, Petain and Quisling have become eternally infamous because they stand for appeasement and collaboration. But then what do we make of the names Blair, Sarkozy and Stoltenberg? What have the latter done differently from their predecessors? The left likes to pretend that its collaboration with Islam is moral, while the collaboration with Nazism was immoral. It's a distinction without a difference.

Mark Steyn: Lather, Rinse, and Repeat
The killer of French schoolchildren and soldiers turns out to be a man called Mohammed Merah. The story can now proceed according to time-honored tradition:
Stage One: The strange compulsion to assure us that the killer is a “right wing conservative extremist,” in the words of NRO commenter ExpatAsia, echoed by Chrisman and Galt’s Bain. Up north, this view was shared by Canada’s most prominent establishment Jew and the Liberal Party attack poodle Warren Kinsella (whom NR readers may recall from my free-speech cover story, which mentioned the groveling apology he was forced to make to “the Chinese community” after an unfortunately sinophobic cat joke). The insistence that the killer was emblematic of an epidemic of right-wing hate sweeping the planet is, regrettably, no longer operative. Instead, the killer isn’t representative of anything at all.
So on to Stage Two: Okay, he may be called Mohammed but he’s a “lone wolf.” Sure, he says he was trained by al-Qaeda, but what does he know? Don’t worry, folks, he’s just a lone wolf like Major Hasan and Faisal Shahzad and all the other card-carrying members of the Amalgamated Union of Lone Wolves. All jihad is local.
On to Stage Three: Okay, even if there are enough lone wolves around to form their own Radio City Rockette line, it’s still nothing to do with Islam. I’m sad to see the usually perceptive Ed West of the London Telegraph planting his flag on this wobbling blancmange.
And then, of course, Stage Four: The backlash that never happens. Because apparently the really bad thing about actual dead Jews is that it might lead to dead non-Jews: “French Muslims Fear Backlash After Shooting.” Likewise, after Major Hasan’s mountain of dead infidels, “Shooting Raises Fears For Muslims In US Army.” Likewise, after the London Tube slaughter, “British Muslims Fear Repercussions After Tomorrow’s Train Bombing.” Oh, no, wait, that’s a parody, though it’s hard to tell.
Look, pace Ed West, isn’t it just a teensy-weensy little bit to do with Islam? Or at any rate the internal contradictions of one-way multiculturalism? No, it’s not a competition. Most times in today’s Europe, the guys beating, burning and killing Jews will be Muslims. Once in a while, it will be somebody else killing the schoolkids. But is it so hard to acknowledge that rapid, transformative, mass Muslim immigration might not be the most obvious aid to social tranquility? That it might possibly pose challenges that would otherwise not have existed — for uncovered women in Oslo, for gays in Amsterdam, for Jews everywhere? Is it so difficult to wonder if, for these and other groups living in a long-shot social experiment devised by their rulers, the price of putting an Islamic crescent in the diversity quilt might be too high? What’s left of Jewish life in Europe is being extinguished remorselessly, one vandalized cemetery, one subway attack at a time. How many Jewish children will be at that school in Toulouse a decade hence? A society that becomes more Muslim eventually becomes less everything else. What is happening on the Continent is tragic, in part because it was entirely unnecessary.

Definition of “arrogance”: whenever Muslims are the perpetrators (which is usually), they are always the “victims.”
Muslims around the world are more alike than ignorant Americans would like to believe. Americans want to think that only Muslims in France–like Mohammed Merah–would massacre Jews, despite evidence that there are plenty of Nidal Malik Hassans and Faisal Shahzads in our midst on U.S. soil. But, in fact, Muslims around the world are exactly the same, regardless of the fiction of borders and different cultures. And they whine equally wherever they are, whenever they are the perpetrators of horrific crimes against humanity. While in America, there is HAMASCAIR, everywhere else in the world there are Muslim grievance theater stars just like ‘em. And, instead of mourning the victims of their fellow co-religionists, they are shrieking about some fictional backlash that sadly never happens. And so it goes today in France, where Muslims are NOT mourning the murdered Jews–three of whom were kids 8 and under. Instead, Muslims are asking us to drink their fine whine about “exploitation” of Muslims. It’s nauseating. And laughably predictable.
